The Canebrake Players will perform Charlotte’s Web on Friday, Feb. 1 and Feb. 3-5. The Feb. 1 show will be at 7 p.m., the Sunday, Feb. 3 show will be at 2 p.m. and the Monday and Tuesday shows will be at 6 p.m.

The show lasts two hours, including intermission, so the shows on school nights still let out at a reasonable time.

“We pushed the start time up an hour on those two night so families would be more willing to come out,” Jennifer Roemen, director of the play, said. “It’s a good family show that is good for all ages. It is a story of friendship and it shows a purpose to life, which we all need.”

Roemen said the show has come a long way, and she feels that it is going to be a great show.

“The children have really developed their characters and picked up things that go along with the animal they are playing.”

The Canebrake Players are also holding auditions for their spring production, Greater Tuna, on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. This production will be an all male cast.

Greater Tuna is a tall Texas tale of a day in Tuna, the fictional third-smallest town in Texas “where the Lions Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.” The play paints a humorous portrait of life in the rural South.

In addition to the male cast members, the Canebrake Players are also looking for people interested in crew, sound, lighting and customers. They are also looking for an old formica table with the aluminum rim around the sides.
