School board discusses security plans and measures

The Demopolis City Board of Education met Monday night and discussed security plans and measures for the schools.
The board entered into executive session following the regular meeting to discuss the plans.
During the meeting, the board approved the overnight field trip for the Demopolis Middle School seventh and eight-grade Beta Club to go to a convention in Huntsville on March 13-15, and the overnight field trip for the U.S. Jones fifth-grade enrichment class to go to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab on Feb. 20-22.
In other business, the board did the following:
•Approved the financial statements and payroll for December 2012.
•Approved the contract between Demopolis City Schools and West Alabama Public Transportation from August 2012 to May 2013.
The next regular meeting will be held Feb. 18 at 5:15 p.m.
No action was taken following the executive session.
