Local student wins state essay contest

Jessica Flowers, a student at West Alabama Christian School in Demopolis, has been awarded first place in a state essay contest by the Alabama Christian Education Association.
Flowers wrote an essay about dreams, according to her sixth grade teacher Marissa Peleaz. She said they are very proud of Flowers’ accomplishment.
Flowers’ essay has been sent to the American Association of Christian Schools to compete at the national level.
This is the first year that West Alabama Christian school has competed in state competitions.
Administrators of the school said they are very proud that Jessie captured first place among all the Christian schools in the state of Alabama.
She is the daughter of Gene and Julie Flowers of Gallion.
