Kiwanis of Demopolis will no longer be selling trees and tree stands as it has in the past, however, those who have bought one of the special stands can still use it.
“All of our equipment has been loaned to Greenleaf Nursery so that our loyal customers who come back year after year will still be able to use their stand,” Kiwanis President Kris Mullins said.
The stand features a peg in the center of it and to be used the tree has to have a hole bored in the center of its trunk using a special machine.
“The Christmas tree business just wasn’t worth the cost, but we didn’t want our customers to be left with a tree stand they couldn’t use,” Mullins said. “So we worked an agreement out with Greenleaf, allowing them to use the equipment if they would service our customers.”
Anyone with a Kiwanis tree stand can go by Greenleaf Nursery on Cedar Street and have their tree bored.
