Second tornado touched down in southern Marengo

The tornado that came through eastern Demopolis was not the only confirmed twister in Marengo County on Christmas.
Another tornado that affected the Vangale community near Dixon Mills has also been confirmed by the National Weather Service.
The tornado, which earned an EF-1 rating, brought top winds of 90 miles per hour and stayed on the ground for about six minutes starting at 3:15 p.m.
The twister touched down just southwest of Dixon Mills on Hoboken Road and stayed on the ground for almost five miles. It was 100 yards across at its widest.
After touching down, the storm continued northeast and cross Marengo County 6, Marengo County 8 and Alabama 10.
The twister lifted around 3:21 p.m. after it crossed Highway 10 along Southern Pines Drive.
Weather service crews reported there was very little structural damage along the path.
Damages reported mainly consist of trees snapped or uprooted along the trail of the twister.
No injuries were reported.
