The Demopolis boys’ basketball team (2-5) traveled to Dothan on Thursday to participate in the Southeast Alabama Christmas Tournament.
In the Tigers’ first game of the tournament, they faced off against the No. 4 team in Class 6A, Murphy High School (11-1).
Demopolis lost the game 73-63, but head coach Rodney Jackson said he was pleased with how his team executed and performed.
“We played good,” he said. “Murphy is a 6A team and ranked in the top 5. We played hard and executed well. We looked better overall, and that’s two games in a row that we’ve looked better.”
Jackson said his team kept the game around a 10-point difference throughout the game.
The loss drops Demopolis to 3-6 on the season. They will face Cottage Hill Christian Academy at 3 p.m. on Friday in their second game of the tournament.
