In the new Alabama Sports Writers Association basketball poll released Thursday, the girls’ basketball teams at Marengo Academy and Demopolis High are mentioned.

The Lady Longhorns (5-0) are No. 4 in the AISA rankings. The Lady Tigers (2-0) are not ranked, but did receive nominations.

The Longhorns’ next games will be during a tournament at Southern Academy in Greensboro on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Tigers will face R.C. Hatch, the No. 8 team in the Class 2A rankings, on Friday night in Demopolis.
