Linden City Council hires new LPD officer

The Linden City Council met Tuesday night and voted to hire a new police officer for the Linden Police Department.
The city hired Keith Hood based off of Chief Scott McClure╒s recommendation. The council also approved the purchase of a new squad car for the Linden Police Department.
In other business, the council appointed Betty Ann Smiley and Nell Stokes to the nursing home board to replace two members who had resigned, but continued to stay on until replacements were found.
The council also voted to do the following:
•Appointed Billy Sheffield to the Utility Board.
•Amended an ordinance to change the business license fee from $10 to $12 due to an adjustment at the state level.
