Linden hosting several Christmas events in coming weeks

The City of Linden is holding a host of holiday activities over the next few weeks, starting this weekend.
On Saturday, Nov. 24, the city is promoting Small Business Saturday, which is to encourage people to shop at small, local businesses during the busy shopping season. This day falls in line with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The next big event for Linden is ChiLLy Fest, which is on Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8. ChiLLy Fest shirts must be pre-ordered by Wednesday, Nov. 26, and forms for the ‘Poot N’ Scoot’ run must be turned in by that day as well. Food vendor and cook off team forms are due by Saturday, Nov. 29.
Linden’s Home Decoration Contest will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6:30-8 p.m. They are encouraging everybody in Linden to decorate their homes for Christmas. The homes will be judged during the time of the contest, and there will be winners for prettiest door, prettiest window, prettiest indoor tree and best overall outside decorations. Prizes will be awarded for each category compliments of J&K Whistle Stop, Langley’s Shell, Nellie’s Silk Flowers and Gifts and Papa’s Foods.
The Linden Police Department is collecting Toys for Tots at Linden City Hall through Thursday, Dec. 13. Toys can be brought to Linden City Hall Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The sixth-grade class at George P. Austin Middle School will be performing “Yes Virginia” on Tuesday, Dec. 11 and Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at Linden Elementary School.
