A winter storm watch will be in effect after midnight, however the Black Belt is only expected to receive 1-2 inches of snow by Friday evening.

Originally, the National Weather Service predicted as much as three inches of snow accumulation, mainly during the daylight hours Friday.

School officials and public safety officials are expected to receive updates early this afternoon from the National Weather Service.

No school closings have been reported for Friday but the Demopolis Times continues to monitor the situation.
