Change your clock, change your batteries

The Demopolis Fire Department wants to remind citizens to change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors this weekend while turning clocks back an hour.
They suggest that people do the following:
•Have at least one working smoke alarm on each level of a home.
•Test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors monthly to make sure they work.
•Vacuum around the smoke detectors to make sure they are free of dust.
•Plan, discuss and practice an escape route with family members for dangerous situations such as home fires, carbon monoxide leaks and natural disasters.
•Be sure not to ignore the chirping sound the smoke alarm makes when maintenance is required.
