DEMOPOLIS-A lack of information and eyewitnesses have contributed to no results as of Thursday in the theft of the Demopolis High School visitor’s locker room last month.
Though a police report has been filed there are very few specifics in the case and little information for the department to work with.
Tim Soronen, Detective Sgt. For the Demopolis Police Department, said they have retained a list of stolen items, but still in needed communication from the victims.
“They gave us a list of items and we told them to give their cell phone companies a call and get back in touch with us,” Soronen said. “So far we haven’t heard back from any of them.”
Soronen said they have taken measures to recover the items if the thieves attempt to use or sell the stolen items.
“We have alerted people and electronic companies to be aware of these items and be on the lookout,” Soronen said. “We have also informed others to be on the lookout for these cell phones and other equipment.”
Several items were taken from the locker room including portable compact disc players. Cell phones and an Ipod. The locker room is located across the street from the stadium on the campus of Demopolis Middle School. Because the locker rooms are separated from the stadium it is difficult for officers working the game to keep an eye on the building the entire game.
According to the department, there was no forced entry so the intruders could have come from anywhere.
Soronen said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information on the case to contact him at (334) 289-3073.
