GREENSBORO-Two men have been arrested in Greensboro in connection with the rape of a nine-year-old girl. Timothy Banks and Sam Evans were taken into custody Thursday and have been charged with sexual abuse in the first degree.

Authorities were expected to pick up Sonya High Friday in Georgia in connection with the crime. High had allegedly fled the state and later been captured by Georgia authorities.

Bond for Banks and Evans has been set for $1 million.

District Attorney Michael Jackson said he wanted to make it perfectly clear this behavior would not be tolerated.

“We are going to make sure rapists stay in jail as long as possible,” Jackson said.

Authorities were able to make an arrest in the case because of cooperation from the victim. Greensboro Police Chief Claude Hamilton said the victim was very clear in her description.

“She was very clear when she told us what had happened,” Hamilton said. “Her stories were consistent and she was able to give us a good description which helped us make arrests.”

Authorities said the plan to continue to investigate the crime.
