County volleyball teams gear up for tournaments

Regular season volleyball is winding down across the county.
Demopolis, Sweet Water and Linden are preparing for their area tournaments that start Thursday, and Marengo Academy is preparing for the AISA state tournament after finishing second in their region tournament on Tuesday.
Demopolis travels to Sumter-Central in York on Thursday to face off against Selma in the first round of the tournament. That match will follow the 1 p.m. match between Sumter-Central and Greenville. The winners of both matches will face off in the final match.
Sweet Water is hosting their area tournament, and will play the winner of the match between Choctaw County and Hale County, which begins at noon Thursday.
Linden will go on the road Thursday to Akron. They will face Keith High School at 5 p.m. and the winner will face Akron following that match.
Marengo Academy will compete in the AISA state tournament at Faulkner University in Montgomery on Saturday, Oct. 20. The first round begins at 12:30 p.m., and the final match for the state championship will begin at 3:30 p.m.
