Eutaw Police are on the lookout for two Hale County men who committed an armed robbery in their city limits Saturday.

Eutaw Police Chief Reginald Spencer said William Allen, who filed a report being robbed and assaulted. Spencer said Allen told authorities he was approached by two men, robbed and stabbed before the pair fled the scene.

“He said he was walking down the street and the subject pulled up beside him, got out with a gun and told him to give him his money,” Spencer said. “He said he started fighting with that subject and the other one got out of the car and stabbed him in the hand with a knife and took his money.”

When Allen reported the incident Spencer said, he told police he was familiar with the men who robbed him and had a vague idea of where they lived, but he was not sure of their names.

“He said he knows the subjects and they are from Hale County,” Spencer said. “But he does not know their names.”

Spencer said the incident is still under investigation.

A Wednesday incident at a Greene County High School basketball game led to another close call, Spencer said.

Following a Dec. 13 basketball game in Eutaw between Greene County High School and Sumter County High School, Spencer said, Michael Evan Love said he was involved in a fight and trailed from the scene when he left in his car.

“He said he was involved in an altercation at a Greene County High School basketball game,” Spencer said. “He said he got into an argument, he left the scene (in his car) and the people he was in the argument with forced him off the road.”

Love and another passenger were in the vehicle, but neither was injured. Spencer said warrants have been signed and they expect to make arrests soon.

There was another involving juvenile girls and two adults at the same game, however, Spencer said he did not believe they were related to Love’s altercation. Spencer said the second incident is also under investigation and will be handled by juvenile court.
