The Marengo and Sumter County University of West Alabama alumni associations are hosting the fourth annual Homecoming Golf Tournament. The event is set for Friday, Oct. 19 at the Livingston Country Club.
The tournament will be a two-person scramble format, which allows both players on each team to hit a ball, and then play the best one. Everyone is invited to play.
Registration for the tournament is at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. tee time. Registration is $60 per person, or $120 per team, and if a team needs a cart, it will cost an extra $35.
The money raised goes toward scholarships for Marengo and Sumter County students going to UWA.
Marengo County alumni association member and event organizer Steve Henderson said he hopes the tournament can continue to grow and more people will turn out for it.
The tournament was moved this year to Livingston Country Club. It had previously been played at The Ravine in Demopolis.
“We’ve done it since 2009,” Henderson said, “but we haven’t had the turnout we’ve hoped for. We moved it to Livingston, close to the University, in hopes of more people coming out.”
