The past two days have been Heaven on Earth for Demopolis’ medical professionals.

Instead of having to go on a wild search for the perfect work gear, Uniforms 2 U 2 brought a selection of scrubs and comfortable shoes to the bottom floor of the Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

The hospital’s “Pink Lady” auxiliary group was responsible for the two-day event.

“We had real good success,” Pink Lady president Brenda Parr said, “This is the third time we’ve had one. The first one was around this time last year and the second one was in September.”

The group first discovered Uniforms 2 U 2 at a state meeting and has plans to use the proceeds to buy new furniture for the hospital cafeteria.

“At the first one we raised about $3,000. The second sale was only for a day, so it was a little less than $2,000,” Parr said. “This time, we probably raised about $2,000 in the two days.”

But the group plans to bring the business back to make it a biannual event.

“We’re going to try to do two a year,” Parr said. “It’s just convenient for people in the community that wear uniforms, or who just want comfortable shoes.”

“We do this all over southeast Alabama,” Uniforms 2 U 2 owner Michelle Brocato said. “We provide medical uniforms to hospital employees and auxiliaries in the area.”

The Huntsville-based company has provided a convenient shopping experience to Alabama hospitals for five years and will continue to make trips to Demopolis.

“If they don’t have it, they’ll take your order and mail it to you,” Parr said. “And they have a lot of the new stuff. I see a lot of the staff walking around in the things they bought and they just look so pretty in the pinks, and yellows, and greens.”

The Pink Ladies will welcome Uniforms 2 U 2 back for another two-day sale August 28-29.
