This year’s Miss Christmas on the River will be crowned Saturday night at the Demopolis Civic Center. ABC 33/40 chief meteorologist James Spann will serve as emcee for the pageant, which begins at 7 p.m.

“This gets COTR rolling with fundraising and getting the girls to learn to walk across the stage,” Jennifer Tate, executive director of the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are very grateful and appreciative to all the girls that are participating and those ladies who have volunteered to help with the pageant.”

The Miss COTR pageant, for high school freshman through seniors, kicks off the start of the week’s pageants for the other age groups as well.

•The Miss Jr. COTR will be Monday at 7 p.m.

•The Young Miss COTR will be Tuesday at 7 p.m.

•The Little Miss COTR will be Wednesday at 6 p.m.

All of the pageants will take place at the Demopolis Civic Center.

Tickets for each pageant will be $5 at the door.
