Logan Davis of York, Alabama has been accepted to Samford University&8217;s School of Pharmacy. Logan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Davis.
Logan was awarded a Presidential scholarship by Samford University upon graduation from Sumter Academy in the Spring of 2002.
This scholarship is among the most prestigious of the university and is based on academic excellence, leadership experience and potential.
As he progressed through his undergraduate coursework he was on the Dean&8217;s list every semester while being active in Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, SGA, and the LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) Scholar program.
After two years at Samford and a GPA of 3.92 he has been
accepted to the McWhorter School of Pharmacy.
Over the past two years of professional school he has maintained a 3.8 GPA while being active in the National Community Pharmacy Organization and the Pharmacy Leadership Society, working at Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham, and getting married in July to Bethany.
Logan contributes alot of his academic success to his experience with Sumter Academy.
He describes his elementary, junior high, and high school education as an experience because it was so much more than mere time spent at a school.
Stellar curriculum, sports teams and academic teams, and involvement in student organizations molded and prepared him for an easy transition into Samford University in Birmingham.
With an aspiration to pursue pharmacy as a career, the math and science programs at S.A. gave him a solid foundation upon which he could build a pharmacy education.
His experience with Sumter Academy sports, football in particular, contributed greatly as he learned how to function as a part of a team and how to be a brother to his teammates.
Another experience that Logan holds as a milestone was being a part of the 2002 AISA State Math Competition Championship team with many of his classmates during their senior year as well as being the highest individual scorer in the district math competition.
The State Math championship was an accomplishment that was dreamt upon since the late 1980&8217;s by their math teacher, Mrs. Rita Bonner, and together their team achieved that goal.
Since then Sumter Academy math teams have continued to win State Math Competitions and prove to other schools in the state and to universities around the nation that our small Sumter Academy is producing excellent students.Logan graduated from Sumter Academy as the class of 2002 Salutatorian, and as a result of his experiences at Sumter Academy he cannot honestly say that all of these occurrences in my life are solely because of Sumter Academy, but he does contribute that experience as helping
him become the person he is today.
