As the season changes, the inevitable sounds of coughs and sneezes will fill many rooms as the “flu bug” makes its way around.
To help combat the spread of influenza, the Marengo County Health Department will host a series of flu shot clinics in the coming weeks.
“It is really important for everyone to get the flu shot but especially children and the elderly,” said Michelle Pugh, MCHD supervisor.
Some insurance plans will cover the flu shots. The clinic will accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Blue Advantage or Medicare and Medicaid. The without insurance can still get the shot for $10.
This is not a drive through clinic, as the department has done in the past. Instead, flu shots will be given inside the health department.
The shots last for a year and Pugh said it is very important that people come out and get the shot.
The clinics will be held: Thursday, Sept. 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. to noon and Oct. 18 from 1- 5 p.m.
