It had been two years since the University of West Alabama Tiger football team faced Harding University. After last Saturday&8217;s game the Tigers may have wanted to wait another two years before playing the Bisons. The Tigers dropped their fourth consecutive loss to HU. UWA committed six turnovers, four in the second half. Turnovers are costly in every football game, but its what sealed the fate of the University of West Alabama football team, as the Tigers fell to Harding 24-16 at First Security Stadium in front of more than 2800 fans. The loss is the second consecutive conference loss for UWA. They are now 1-2 in the conference and 3-2 overall. and continues the conference, road losing streak.

The Bison (3-2, 2-1) used six UWA turnovers to post all 24 points in the game.

The Tigers would get on the scoreboard first in the game, as Reiter rushed in from two yards out, but the extra point was missed to give UWA a 6-0 advantage.

Harding would answer the Tigers score on a 4-yard pass from David Knighton to Kurt Adams. The Ben Davis extra point would give Harding a 7-6 lead and the Bison never trailed again.

Knighton later found Devin Link for a 36-yard, touchdown pass with 4:23 remaining in the first half. Warfield would hit a 28-yard field goal to finish out the half and send the Tigers in down 14-9 at the half.

Knighton and Adams would hook up again for a 3-yard touchdown pass and Davis would hit a 30-yard field goal with 8:40 remaining in the game to finish the Bison scoring on the night.

The Tigers fought back and cut a 15-point Harding deficit to eight points, as A.J. Holloway plunged in from 1-yard out with just over seven minutes remaining in the game. The play was set up by a 35-yard completion from James Reiter to former Demopolis Tiger, Dwiuan White. White, finish with three catches and 95 yards receiving. Reiter, who set a UWA record for the most rushing yards for a quarterback with 171 yards, also threw for 207 yards, completing 11 of 23 passes. He also threw three interceptions, and all three to Robert Towns, HU defensive back.

The UWA defense would hold Harding and force the Bison to punt, but the Tigers fumbled on the Harding 38 yard line to seal the fate of the Tigers. The defense again played well as they have all season. They allowed the Bisons just 267 total yards. Senior linebacker Kidane McBride led the defense with seven solo tackles.

West Alabama will return to action on Saturday, as they will look to get back in the win column in a homecoming contest against Webber International. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
