On a journey for God

Demopolis &045; Dennis Blackmon sat outside a Laundromat Monday afternoon watching the sun set as he washed his clothes, which previously had been stored in a worn olive drab military-issue A.L.I.C.E. pack.
He was close to 100 miles away from his hometown of Greenville, Ala. and yet closer to home than he had been in quite sometime. Blackmon is on a quest of sorts.
Blackmon started his quest Aug. 8 in Huntington, Calf. after catching a ride from Boaz Ala. on a Greyhound bus. Blackmon said that his trip is a spiritual journey that he felt called by God to make.
Blackmon said he ruptured his L5-S1 vertebrate and pinched his sciatic nerve in the fall that put him into the hospital. The injuries led to two back surgeries and a lot of soul searching by Blackmon.
Blackmon then began his adventure, which he said has taken him to some interesting places.
