LINDEN &045; The Marengo Academy’s three-day Bama’s Buck Belt hunt last weekend was won by the hunters. There were 57 registered hunters hosted for this year’s annual event.
The hunt is one of the schools largest fundraiser. A total of 48 deer was killed in the weekend affair, which is in its 12th year. Twenty of the 48 deer killed were bucks.
The hunters traveled from as far north as North Dakota and there were hunters that came as far southeast as Tallahassee, Fl. The oldest hunter that participated was Carlton Smith, 72, of Wetumpka.
The excitement has already begun for next year’s hunt, which is scheduled for the first weekend in January of 2008.
