Gridlock helps nobody

Following Thursday evening’s city council walkout, it is obvious that something needs to be done about the gridlock that has plagued the council over the past months.
It is a shame that personal differences come about when city business needs to get done. The school board has been without a member for a while now, and it is something that should not have been dragged on for months like this.
Hopefully the new blood on the council coming in November will help to ease this gridlock and allow business to be done in a timely manner.
There is no good reason that the members of the council should not be able to work together to come up with solutions for what needs to be done in this city.
After the walkout, Mayor Mike Grayson apologized to those in attendance and asked that they come back to future meetings because city business will get done. Let’s hope the Mayor is right. Four more years of gridlock would be detrimental to the city of Demopolis.
