Big brother will have bragging rights at Thanksgiving this year.
Tom Causey and the Demopolis Tigers traveled to Tuscaloosa to take on his younger brother John Causey and American Christian Academy and came away with a huge 49-7 victory.
The Tigers came out in the first quarter and outscored the Patriots 28-0. By halftime, the score was 42-7 Demopolis and the game was well in hand.
The scoring started with a seven-yard touchdown pass from Tucker Jones to Cortez Lewis. The second score came off of a punt blocked by Tyler Merriweather and recovered in the endzone by Demetrius Kemp.
Jones added another touchdown on a 30-yard pass to Tyler Oates. Roderick Davis finished the first quarter scoring with a 28-yard run.
Jones added a rushing touchdown to his stats on a 28-yard scamper in the second quarter.
The highlight of the night came from a 108-yard interception return for a touchdown by senior Tommy Wilson.
Coach Tom Causey felt good about his team’s performance, but he knows they still have some work to do to get ready for region play.
“We improved in the areas we needed to improve on,” Causey said, “but we also made some mistakes that we will have to work on. We took advantage of their turnovers and scored fast.”
Davis led the team in rushing with 101 yards on 14 carries, and Peyton Pearson led the team on defense with seven solo tackles, two tackle assists and two sacks.
