Amos Edwards

GREENSBORO &8212; Amos Edwards of Greensboro died on April 18 at Hale County Hospital.

Funeral services to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday from the Saint Paul Baptist Church in Greensboro with the Rev. Sylvester Burrodghs officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from noon until time of service.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. on Friday at the Agnew Funeral Home.

Della Bryant Gooden

GREENSBORO &8212; Della Bryant Gooden of Greensboro died on April 23 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday from the Salem Baptist Church in Greensboro with the Rev. J.C. Carter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sarah Christian Cemetery.

The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. to time of service.

Visitation will be held from noon until 6 p.m. on Friday at the Agnew Funeral Home.

Lewis Gibbs III

HOMEWOOD &8212; Lewis Gibbs III, 7, of Homewood known to family and friends as &8220;Trey,&8221; died April 23 at Children&8217;s Hospital in Birmingham.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Johnson Baptist Church in Livingston with the Rev. Samuel Harris officiating.

Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery with McInnis Mortuary of Livingston directing. He was a first grader at Shades Cahaba Elementary School in Homewood.

Sarah Creastal Bates

LIVINGSTON &8212; Sarah Creastal Bates, 92, of Livingston died on April 15 in Boston.

Services will be held at 11 a.m.

on Saturday at New Prospect Baptist Church in Livingston with the Rev. L.C. Eatman officiating.

Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with McInnis Mortuary of Livingston directing.

Visitation is from 1 until 6 p.m. today at the mortuary in Livingston and an hour before the service at the church.

Rosie L. Alle

FORKLAND &8212; Rosie L. Allen, 81, of Forkland died on April 24, 2007 in Montgomery. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis.

David Douglas Scales

COATOPA &8212; David Douglas Scales, 91, of Coatopa died on April 17, 2007 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Dugg Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Coatopa. The Rev. John Wright is the pastor-eulogist. Sis. Daisy Carter served as mistress of order. Bro. John Evans was the musician. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Zion Hill A.M.E. Church in Coatopa; master mason of Zion Hill Lodge #212A, patron of Zion Hill Beauty Lodge, O.E.S. # 753. He also served in the United States Army.

He was married to Merendy Scales for 65 years who preceded him in death. He was employed as a vocational agriculture aide with Sumter County Farm Agency and USDA Farm Administration. He was credited for being instrumental in the Civil Rights Movement in Sumter County and along with others helped develop a center for disadvantaged youth of Sumter County.

Survivors include a daughter, guardian and friend, Emma Howard Stewart and husband, Hugh, of Huntsville and a host of other great nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Ralph Eugene Dubose

BELLAMY &8212; Ralph Eugene Dubose, 64, of Bellamy died on April 14, 2007 at Hill Hospital in York. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the John The Baptist Church in Halsell. The Rev. Lavon Gathright officiated.

Interment followed in Fairfield Cemetery in Halsell with military honors.

Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

He was born on December 26, 1942 in Halsell to late Mack and Nancie Dubose. He was a member of Choctaw County Training School Class of 1961. He served in the United States Army from 1965 until 1967 in the Vietnam War.

He was united in holy matrimony to the late Carol Hudson Dubose. He was employed with General Motors Corporation for 37 years.

Survivors include two children, Gideon D. Dubose of Largo, Fla. and Attorney Shakeba Dubose of Columbus, Ohio; his siblings, Rayfield, Floretta and Leo of Halsell and Darline, Alfred and Wilford of New Jersey and Clara Mitchell of York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
