Business professionals from Marengo County gathered together for the Economic Development Authority luncheon held at The Farmhouse Restaurant on Thursday to hear information about funds available to small businesses.

Howard Wills, state small business credit initiative coordinator from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) talked to business leaders about options for small business loan funding through ADECA.

“We want to let businesses know about the money we have available to them,” he said. “They should also know we are not a direct lender.”

He said this funding has the possibility of helping our state and our businesses.

Ann Alford, revolving loan fund manager for Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission spoke about loan options through her organization.

“I hope members of this region realize we have this as a resource to provide small businesses with finances,” she said.

The two speakers also offered business professionals information regarding the application process to obtain the loans.

Brenda Tuck, executive director for the EDA, said they held the luncheon in efforts to provide information for businesses but also provide opportunities for networking.

“We hope to continue working with industry professionals and aiding businesses that is a high priority from our office,” she said.

She said they plan to host more luncheons for the business professionals in the future.
