DEMOPOLIS &8212; The Parr&8217;s Chevron team won out over Linden Stockyard yesterday evening in a Babe Ruth League match up at the Demopolis SportsPlex.
Behind big bats and the arm of Gunter Carter Parr&8217;s held their opponents scoreless through five innings and moved to 2-3 on the season with the 19-0 win. Parr’s coach Rex Kent said the group did well in the game with their at bats.
Kent said the arm of Gunter Carter allowed his defense to take it easy for the game, so it was hard to gauge the group&8217;s play. Cater allowed only three hits during the game and recorded nine strikeouts during the five innings of play.
The three hits off Cater came from Linden Stockyard players Tyler Howerton, who went 2-3 on the day, and Ashton Holley, who went 1-2.
Parr’s batters on the other hand had a strong day in the box, with seven players recording hits. Trey Jones went 2-3 with two walks, Chase Cameron and Trey Williams went 2-4 and Pierce Thomas went 1-2 with two walks on the day. Leading Parr’s batters was pitcher, Carter, who went 4-5, and Matt Barger and Trey Williams, who both went 3-4.
The Parr’s groups came out respectively early in the game with one run in the first. After holding Linden Stockyard scoreless the group returned in the second with four more and seven in the third.
The Linden Stockyard team couldn&8217;t get over the hump and remained scoreless for the games duration as Parr&8217;s scored seven more in the fifth inning and ended in the bottom.
The loss by Linden Stockyard puts the team at 1-4 on the season. The group will play again Thursday against Greensboro. Parr&8217;s next game will be during the league&8217;s jay Windle Day this weekend, in which every team will play two games.
