Rachel Tucker describes herself as a creative person, something she has been all of her life. She has used her creative gifts to help promote her place of employment for the last three years, Designer&8217;s Showcase in Demopolis.

This summer, at the suggestion of Letty Fields, store owner, Tucker spruced up their delivery truck with a new look. Formerly a plain white canvas, Tucker put the company&8217;s logo and a pink and green mural featuring potted plants on the back of the truck.

As far as the design for the project, it was a group effort among all the employees.

With the help of sales associate and designer Lea Cameron and floral designer Sheryl Skerbinc, they were able to come up with a new design for the truck. Fields had been looking to paint the truck for several years, but was finally able to realize this goal with Tucker&8217;s help.

Designers Showcase has been on Highway 80 for 17 years. They opened their downtown location two years ago, where Julie Wright is a sales associate. In addition to carrying home furnishings, Designers Showcase has jewelry, floral arrangements and a multitude of unique items.

According to Fields, one of their most requested items is their in-house design service. This service is for anyone who requests it and Fields will come to your home and help you make design decisions.

Since Tucker painted the truck, she reports they have had a good response from the store&8217;s mobile masterpiece.

When asked about her prior professional painting experience, she responded modestly, saying that she has only done smaller projects such as helping her twin sister, Lara, paint signs to cheer on all the sports teams at Demopolis High School.

Painting is just one of Tucker&8217;s many talents and skills. She has also taken piano lessons since she was six years old. When she was in high school, she was named Marengo County Junior Miss 2006 and was able to use her piano abilities to perform a talent at the state pageant in Montgomery.

When she is not helping out Designers Showcase in Demopolis, Tucker is a full-time student at the University of Alabama, where she will begin her sophomore year in the fall.

She began her studies last year as a math major, but she has since changed her major to civil engineering.

Tucker said there are many aspects to civil engineering, which includes the designing and construction of roads, bridges, buildings and other structures. One of the areas Tucker is most interested in is in the construction aspect of civil engineering because of her love of building things.

Tucker is also very involved with college life. She is currently a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and is in many honor societies due to her good grades.

In Tuscaloosa she shares an apartment with her two older sisters, Allison and Kimberly. According to Tucker, it was her dad&8217;s idea for the three of them to share a place.

In her spare time she also likes to visit the wellness center and run with her father, Ken Tucker. Her mother is Mary Tucker.
