The Linden City Board of Education voted Thursday to approve the football field agreement that was voted upon by the city council on Tuesday.

The city’s purchase of the field is contingent upon its receipt of signed agreements from both the Linden City Board of Education and Marengo Academy’s governing body.

Marengo Academy accepted the agreement Friday morning, which will allow the city of Linden to now purchase the football field from the Linden Athletic Association.

“We have the agreements in hand,” said Mayor Mitzi Gates, “and we are looking forward to moving forward with this and handling the legalities of it.”

Linden City Schools and Marengo Academy will both be able to use the field this upcoming football season with this agreement in place.

The called special city council meeting that was set for 4 p.m. Friday has been canceled.
