Agents with the Demopolis SWAT Team recently aided officers from the York Police Department in apprehending an armed man who barricaded himself in his home.
York Police Chief Brian Harris said his officers were called to the home of Pierce Johnson, 24, of York last Friday night at approximately 11 p.m. regarding a call of an “unstable man.”
Harris said Johnson discharged a shotgun in the air with officers on the scene and barricaded himself in his home, prompting him to call Demopolis for backup.
“We called DPD and asked to utilize their SWAT Team,” he said. “They safely got him out of home without injuries to the suspect or the officers.”
Harris said officers were on the scene for approximately three hours.
“I’d like to thank Chief (Tommie) Reese and his team for the quick response and for their help to our department.”
