This weekend the Alabama Rural Heritage Center celebrates homemade food, art, and music from throughout the Black Belt Region of Alabama and Mississippi at its fifth annual Pepper Jelly Festival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year’s festival features exhibits from the Gee’s Bend Quilters, the lost art demonstrations featuring Basket Weaving, Charlie “Tin Man” Lucas, and Billy Skinner with Arrowhead Knapping .

The Alabama Rural Heritage Foundation celebrated the grand opening of the Rural Heritage Center in 2005 following a partnership with the University of Auburn Rural Studio Architecture Program. It has since become a hub for education and events related to food and culture.

The entertainment lineup is as follows:

Gene Etheredge & Friends from 10 a.m to noon; REIGN Contemporary Gospel Group, Fairhaven Baptist Church from noon to 1 p.m.; Elvis impersonator Ronnie Richardson from 1 to 1:15 p.m.; Gees Bend Quilters from 1:15 to 1:30 p.m.; Grass Hoppers String Band from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Richard Blaine Street Magician will perform all day.
