DEMOPOLIS &045; Sara V. Shirley, 64, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa after an extended illness. Services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at The First Baptist Church of Demopolis with the Rev. Rex Kent officiating. Interment will follow in Demopolis Memorial Gardens with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors directing services.
The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Mrs. Shirley was a native and lifelong resident of Demopolis where she retired from the Demopolis City Schools after teaching for 20 years and had taught for over 28 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Demopolis.
Survivors include her loving husband, David E. &8220;Gene&8221; Shirley of Demopolis, one son, H. Harold Yoder and wife, Colleen, of Homewood, her parents, Thomas E. &8220;Presh&8221; Vaughan and Betty McAlpine Vaughan of Demopolis, one sister, Nonie Wiginton and husband, Max, of Gordo; two nephews, Clark Wiginton and Tom Wiginton and wife, Amanda.
Pallbearers will be C.J. Davis, Dr. Ted Vaughan, Joe Coats, Mike McAlpine, W. J. &8220;Bo&8221; McAlpine, Robert &8220;Shot&8221; McAlpine, Jeremy Vaughan and Jimmy Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers will Dr. Steven W. Copeland, All the staff of DCH Regional Medical Ctr. in Tuscaloosa, Demopolis City School system employees.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given to Demopolis City School Foundation Inc. 102 E. Washington St. Demopolis, AL 36732
