MARION &8212; Bessie Colburn Monts, of Marion, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Mount Ivah Church. The Rev. Arthur Merchant was the presiding clergy. Interment was held in the church cemetery where the Kirk Funeral Homes directed.

Monts was born on June 15, 1923 to Jacob and Mannie Moore Colburn in Perry County. She is survived by Jon C. Monts of Marion, three daughters, Mary L. Cooper and her husband, Terry, of Riverside, Martha S. Fuller, of Birmingham and Rebecca C. Varner and her husband, Gary, of Robertsdale, three sons, Tommy Monts, of Bunkie La., Cecil W. Courtney and wife, Juanita, of Lawley, Jimmy F. Courtney, of Marion, one sister, Earlene Gray, of Tuscaloosa, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry Breland, Raburn Breland, Crawford Ingram, Charles Monts, Douglas Breland and Eugene Middlebrooks.
