GILBERTOWN &8212; George Lee Beard III, 51, of Gilbertown, died on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, Miss. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the chapel of Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown with the Revs. Clovis Lewis and Edgar Jenkins officiating. Interment was held in the Advent Cemetery in Silas. Visitation was held at 6 p.m., on Friday, March 7, 2008 in Gilbertown at Phillips Funeral Home.

Beard was the son of the late George Beard Jr. and Connie Beard. His brother, Art Beard, preceded him in death.

His sister, Gege B. Lewis, and husband, Don, of Linden, and several nieces and nephews survive him.

Pallbearers were Shane Lewis, Greg Beard, Perry Butler, Scott Pickens, Gary Landress, Donnie Landress, Jeff Landress and Steve Landress. Honorary pallbearers were Freddie Campbell, Lynn Cornette, Kevin Whigham, James Pickens and Roy Landress.
