Katherine “Katie” L. Milner

Katherine “Katie” L. Milner, a 50-year resident of Los Altos, Calif. passed away in Orange County on Nov. 2. She was born Sept. 12, 1915 in Demopolis.
She was the oldest of five siblings. She became an R.N. in the 30s and then became an airline hostess for TWA.
In 1939, she was crowned Miss American Aviation. In 1940, she met and married Captain John Milner, a pilot for TWA. They were married for 66 years. Her husband, John, passed away in 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Miehle-Nelson of Anaheim Hills and her son, John D. Milner Jr., and his wife, Karen, of Murphys.
Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Kevin A. Miehle and Katherine Wells. She was a real southern belle and enjoyed so much in giving to others.
Her heroes were Vivian Lee, Clark Gable and Olivia De Havillan. We now release you to the heavens, Mom, where you are Gone with the Wind.
