DEMOPOLIS &8212; For the second straight season, District 10 will be represented in the state tournament by the 7 and 8-year-olds from Demopolis. The boys from the City of the People earned that right Saturday by routing Linden 15-4 before pulling out a 7-5 win over Gilbertown in the championship game.

The team 10-run-ruled Linden after three and a half innings in the semi-final round to gain the right to rematch with Gilbertown, the team it had lost to on the opening day of pool play.

In the championship game, Demopolis built a five-run lead with the benefit of a four-run first inning before errors began to plague the squad.

The team will now travel to Madison Friday where they will compete in the state tournament.

The boys will compete in the American League, one of two, five-team divisions in the tournament. Following four games of pool play, the top two teams from each division will move on to a single-elimination tournament Monday.
