Sakon, Hall face runoff in Myrtlewood town election

Fred Sakon and Mitchell Hall will compete in an election runoff in October for the Myrtlewood mayoral seat after Sakon took in 35 votes and Hall received 34 votes. Jane Vick tallied 25 votes in Tuesday’s city election.
Earning Myrtlewood City Council at-large seats were Hugh Luker III with 95 votes, Kevin McKinney with 91 votes, Jo Ann Bullock with 79 votes, Annette Sansing with 67 votes and Joe Beverly with 43 votes. Frank Strickland took in 31 votes, failing to make the top five, while Crystal Hudgins had 29 votes. Beverly, Sansing and Strickland were all incumbents, while McKinney is the standing mayor.
Absentee votes were not available at press time.
