Willingham’s Sports sponsored a fishing tournament held last Saturday to help raise money to assist with the medical costs for Anna-Coleman Yelverton, an 8-year-old child who was diagnosed with cancer.

Some 23 boats took part in the tournament, which was put together very quickly once news of Anna-Coleman’s illness spread.

“We started organizing this tournament on Wednesday,” said tournament organizer Greg McPherson. “I think we had about $700 or $800 to go to Anna-Coleman; this tournament was organized solely for her.”

The top winners in the tournament were Josh Weeks and Craig Osburn, first place, 13.20 pounds (five fish caught), $1,000 prize; Matt Harrison and Walton Roberts, second place, 12.48, $500, big fish winner at 6.2 pounds, $230 prize; Will Ayers and Chris Hill, third place, 12.35, $300; Greg McPherson and Charles Phillips, fourth place, 12.15; Ben McCarter and Russ Seale, fifth place, 11.69; Ray Mitchell and Adam Cochran, sixth place, 11.65; Wes Wiggins and Brian Cannon, seventh place, 10.27; Wayne Langley and John Pat Lucas, eighth place, 9.44; Chase Schroeder and Ryan Schroeder, ninth place, 9.07.

Russ Seale won the drawing for a rod and reel donated by Willingham’s Sports and Boyd Duckett. The money raised from the drawing also went towards Anna-Coleman’s medical costs.
