Help a pet, pass the towels

The Demopolis Animal Shelter needs towels. Food World offers free towels in return for bonus stamp books. It wasn’t a tremendous leap of thinking to put the two together.
Becky Cole of Bigbee Humane Society — which includes Marengo, Greene and Sumter counties — is asking people who wouldn’t use their Food World bonus stamps to help the Demopolis Animal Shelter by using them to get towels for the shelter.
“Customers get one stamp for every $5 they purchase at the store,” said Kevin Johnston, the Demopolis Food World store manager. “Each stamp booklet holds eight stamps, and they can be redeemed for bath items. Three booklets will get a bath towel, two booklets will get a hand towel, and one booklet will get a washcloth. Customers can also buy those items here, if they want.”
Several customers don’t use their bonus stamps, but they can be put to good use
“We need towels for several uses here at the shelter,” said Lucille Carpenter.
People who want to help the shelter get towels through Food World’s bonus stamps may collect the stamps and mail the booklets to: Demopolis Animal Shelter, 809 E. Jackson St., Demopolis, AL 36732.
It’s a great way to give to a local need without spending extra money.
The bonus stamps are given out at the checkout line. If you don’t want to use them, put them to good use on behalf of the Demopolis Animal Shelter. Buy your groceries, collect the stamps, then throw in the towel.
