Mrs. Mackey’s fourth-grade science class is using the new curriculum from AMSTI, Alabama Math, Science and Technology Institute. The fourth-grade students at U.S. Jones have been studying electricty. As part of the unit, they have been required to make circuits, flashlights and switches. As a final project, each student had to make a model of a room in their house out of a shoebox and scrap materials. Next, they had to wire the house for electricity using circuits and a switch to power the lightbulb. Pictured above is the “Workable flashlight”created by Robert Tutt and Macey Petrey.
