Frederick Larnell Dumas pleaded guilty to murder Monday at the Marengo County Courthouse in Linden.

Dumas, who was set for trial this week for the shooting death of Eric Rogers, entered his plea at the beginning of the Oct. 27-31 Marengo County criminal court term.

Rodgers was allegedly shot by Dumas on June 30, 2007, after a brief exchange of words with Dumas. Dumas allegedly left and returned to shoot Rodgers with a .25-caliber pistol along the street where both men lived in Magnolia.

A pre-sentencing investigation was requested and will be conducted before sentencing on Nov. 25.

Another case was almost resolved Monday when Kendall Westbrook of Sweet Water pleaded guilty to attempted murder. He was arrested for shooting into an occupied vehicle on Nov. 27, 2007, near Magnolia, injuring Jeremy Dixon of Dixon’s Mills. In the car with Dixon at the time were two other men, Germaine Tucker and Tony Chapman, along with a 21-month-old child.

Cynthia Kirk, who was with Westbrook at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle.

Westbrook and Kirk will be sentenced on Nov. 25 after a pre-sentencing investigation.

Other pleas entered this week during the Marengo County criminal court term are:

Donald Butler pleaded guilty to first-degree assault. He will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing investigation.

Ernest Bryant pleaded guilty to unlawful distribution. He will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing investigation.

Edward Marshall pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance. He received two years in the department of corrections, which was suspended. He was placed on two years of unsupervised probation.

Clyde Calhoun pled guilty to the unauthorized use of a vehicle. He received six months in the county jail, which was suspended. He was then placed on one year unsupervised probation, plus he is required to pay restitution and court costs.

Latonya Rene Campbell pled guilty to fraud use, credit. She received a three-year sentence to the department of corrections, which was suspended. She was given two years of unsupervised probation ands she has to pay restitution and court costs.

Jonathon Dollison pled guilty for discharging a gun in to an occupied dwelling. He received ten years in the department of corrections.

Ronald Davis pled guilty to theft of property III. He received `12 months in the county jail plus restitution and court costs.

Michael Anthony Eldridge pled guilty to trafficking cocaine. He was sentenced to 20 years in the department of corrections.

Rodrecus D. Goodwill pled guilty to robbery II. He received ten years with the department of corrections.

Leroy Jefferson pled guilty to criminal tampering. He will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing investigation.

Michael D. Johnson pled guilty to theft of property III. He will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing investigation.

Rusty Siegfried pled guilty to burglary III. He received four years with the department of corrections, which was suspended. He was placed on unsupervised probation for two years, plus required to pay restitution and court costs.

Renee Kilpatrick pled guilty to theft of property I. She was sentenced to four years with the department of corrections, which was suspended. She was placed on two years of supervised probation, plus restitution and court costs.

Cornelius Lydell Lucy pled guilty to robbery II and two counts of assault I. He received 14 years with the department of corrections for robbery and ten years for assault.

Antonio Savalas Nolen pled guilty to theft of property II. He will sentenced Nov. 25.

Elliott Robertson pled guilty to unlawful distribution. He was sentenced to 12 years with the department of corrections.

Brandon Hudson pled guilty to assault II. He was sentenced to ten months in the county jail.

Bradley Lovell White pled guilty to theft of property III. He will be sentenced following a pre-sentencing investigation.
