Change is for the better
Barack Obama was elected on the platform of change. The nation now awaits to see in what direction our new leader may pilot the country.
It was time for a change. After eight years, it was someone else’s turn.
Regardless of your feelings toward George Bush or Barack Obama, eight years is long enough. It’s time to scoot over and give someone with a fresh perspective a turn.
Washington isn’t the only place undergoing changes. Change is happening right here in Demopolis.
As I’m sure many of you are aware, your Demopolis Times will once again be a twice-weekly newspaper on Feb. 4.
With so many new tools at our disposal, we have the opportunity to continue offering a daily news product while giving the “paper” readers of Demopolis what they’ve longed for going on five years – their twice-weekly newspaper back.
I hope each of you are as excited as we are. Each of the employees here catch themselves writing down new ideas as we prepare to publish our first twice-weekly edition in nearly half a decade.
For the newsroom, it’s like Christmas Day all over again. There are so many things we can do – so many more stories we can write – that we’ve nearly hit sensory overload.
Our managing editor, David Snow, has been here before. He actually worked here while the paper was a twice-weekly.
The last newspaper at which I worked before arriving in Demopolis was three times per week, and I’ve studied the bound volumes from when the Demopolis Times was twice-weekly. I understand where we’ve been and I know where I want to go.
What I’d like to know is where you want us to take you. If you have some story ideas, or any ideas at all, please send them our way.
The Demopolis Times is a community newspaper, and input from the community will only make us better. I appreciate your readership and your comments.
