Suttles consolidates accounting department

Suttles Truck Leasing of Demopolis has consolidated its accounting department into the accounting department of Dana Company in Indianapolis.
“Due to the economic situation, it has somewhat forced a consolidation of the accounting department within one of our companies,” said Jem Blair, director of safety and human resources.
“We will be moving all of our accounting duties to a sister company in Indianapolis, Ind. That will affect anywhere from 21 to 25 administrative positions here. These are exemplary employees, and it is just really, really unfortunate.”
All accounting and billing procedures for Suttles Truck Leasing will take place from the company in Indianapolis.
Blair said that no other area of Suttles Truck Leasing was affected.
“There will always be a need for trucking and transportation,” he said. “The backbone of our business is servicing chemical plants. Due to the economic situation, a lot of our customers at these chemical plants have cut back personnel. The economic situation has caused everybody to cut back in production which, naturally, has affected us as a transporter of materials.”
