The Demopolis Police Department’s Cyber Crime unit has struck again.
David Richard Duke, 50, of Troy, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child by Computer.
Demopolis Investigators traveled to Troy where they interviewed Duke at the Troy Police Department and later transported him back to the Demopolis Police Headquarters for processing.
He was then taken to the Marengo County Detention Center to await a Bond Hearing.
“I am very proud of our Criminal Investigation Division for being proactive with these types of crimes,” Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese said. “If the department just sits back and is reactive, these individuals could contact some of our children in the City of Demopolis or in Marengo County via the Internet and lure them into dangerous situation.”
Thursday’s is the third arrest of an alleged attempt to transmit obscene material to a minor since June.
Charles Ray Jones of Ada, Oklahoma, 20, and Jeremy Adam Martin, 23, of Arab, Ala. Were both arrested last month and charged with Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child by Computer.
In each case, the suspects thought they were corresponding with a young girl under the age of 16.
