Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama is celebrating the highest honor a member can receive during the Youth of the Year luncheon on Feb. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market (1900 Jack Warner Parkway, Tuscaloosa). BGCWA’s Youth of the Year Luncheon is presented by Coca-Cola.
At the event, finalists share their stories about the impact of Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama and their vision for the future, and recognize emerging leaders through Jr. Youth of the Year awards. The BGCWA Youth of the Year winner progresses to compete in Montgomery for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Alabama Youth of the Year.
”Being a Youth of the Year finalist is an incredible honor that represents leadership, resilience, and commitment to making a difference,“ said Finalist Kirsten Croxton of the Hale County High School Club. “It’s not just about personal achievements – it’s about inspiring others, uplifting communities, and showing what’s possible when young people are given the chance to shine.”
Youth of the Year finalists include LJ Bester, Kirsten Croxton and Abriyah White.
Jr. Youth of the Year finalists include Taylin Dailey, Devyn McCarter, Autumn Prince, Dexter Ryans, Mikinley, Skinner and Kelsey Wilkins.
“A proud legacy of more than 60 years, the Youth of the Year program recognizes Club members who, with the help of their Club, have met personal challenges head-on and, despite the odds, have given back to their Club and community,” said BGCWA President & CEO, Kim Turner. “The young people that are representing their clubs from across Tuscaloosa, Hale, and Pickens Counties are the shining examples of the thousands of children and teens who come through our doors each year.”
