Linden can’t keep up with Elba, Henderson

The Linden football team had no answer for Elba running back Alvin Henderson in the Patriots 49-14 loss in the second round of the state playoffs.
Linden ends its season with a 9-3 record and region champions.
Henderson, the state’s all-time leading rusher, had 258 yards rushing on just 18 carries with four rushing touchdowns in the win. Elba had 412 yards rushing total.
Linden tried to keep up with them as they put up 267 yards rushing combined. They were led by Keilyn Edwards with 105 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown.
Isaiah Brown also had 85 yards rushing on 11 carries. Tylan Richardson also had 77 yards rushing on 12 carries.
Ja’marion Adams had 141 yards receiving on four catches with a touchdown. Edwards finished seven of nine for 151 yards passing with a touchdown.
While the Patriots put up a lot of yards, they were unable to punch the ball in the end zone except the two times. The Tiger defense also forced two turnovers with three sacks.
Maurice Chaney led the team with 11 tackles while Edwards had 10 tackles.
