Marengo County coroner Stuart Eatmon was injured in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 43 on Saturday at about 7:40 a.m.
According to Alabama State Trooper officials, Eatmon was riding his 2002 Honda motorcycle southbound on U.S. 43 behind a 2008 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by Tommy J. Henderson of Gallion.
“Mr. Eatmon was trailing behind the other vehicle, which was pulling a utility trailer,” said Trooper John Reese. “The utility trailer was making a right turn into a private driveway. (Eatmon) talked with a trooper after the accident, and the trooper indicated that (Eatmon) did not see brake lights or a signal light on the truck.
“At that point, Mr. Eatmon applied the brakes on his motorcycle and lost control of the motorcycle, apparently laying it down. The motorcycle slid 86 feet and collided with the left rear of the utility trailer.”
Eatmon was taken to Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
