Marengo County school board annual meeting
The Marengo County School Board will hold its Annual Public Meeting on Monday, Nov. 4. It will begin promptly at 4 p.m. on the second floor of the Marengo County Office Building. Stakeholders are invited to attend.
Linden School Board called meeting
The Linden City Board of Education will hold a special/called meeting in the conference room located on the ground floor of the Central Office on Monday, Nov. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
Here Here Alabama
Think you have a hearing loss? If you are 18 years of age or older the Hear Here Alabama project with the University of Alabama would like to invite you to participate in a research study. The study will help to increase access to hearing healthcare in rural areas of Alabama. As part of the study, you will be given a free hearing screening and be asked questions about your health. Testing will take place at Whitfield Regional Hospital Tuesday, Nov. 5, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and at Papa’s Foods, 306 S Main Street, Linden, Thursday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The study will take about 30 minutes to complete. Sweet Water Annual Veterans Program
Veterans and the community are invited to our Annual Veterans Program at Sweet Water High School on Friday Nov. 8. We host a Veterans’ reception at 8:30 a.m. in the counselor’s office, and the program will be in the gymnasium at 9 a.m.
Veterans Parade
The Marion Military Institute Corps of Cadets will conduct a parade honoring local veterans on Friday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The Corps will march through downtown Marion along Washington Street, with reserved seating for veterans on the Perry County Courthouse square. The entire community is invited to spectate as we honor all who served.
Free Medicare Counseling
The Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission will have a free Medicare counseling event during open enrollment for the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 9-11 a.m. at Linden Senior Center, 323 N. DUMC Bazaar
Demopolis Methodist Women Bazaar will be Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 200 East Decatur Street, Demopolis. The chicken salad lunch begins at 11 a.m. Plate is $12 and a sandwich is $8. Dine in or Take Out. There will also be a bake room full of cakes, pies, casseroles, soups and more. The silent auction also features home decor, furniture art, and more. The auction ends at 1 p.m. Take-outs for the Bazaar should be received by noon on Tuesday, Nov. 12. DCSF cornhole tournament
The Demopolis City Schools Foundation’s second annual Cornhole Tournament will be Nov. 14 starting at 5:45 p.m. on the Demopolis High School tennis courts. Registration for teams is $60 There will be raffles and prizes given along with an auction for board designed by Mr. Vann’s CTE classes. The tournament will be double elimination. Register and pay online by visiting www.demopolis.org. Check and cash payments are accepted as well.
