UWA tennis squads earn academic recognition

- The University of West Alabama welcomes Birmingham Southern students, offering scholarships to aid the transition for students looking to transfer after the Birmingham-based university announced its closure.

The University of West Alabama men’s and women’s tennis teams twelve total athletes named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athletes list. In addition, both squads were recognized as All-Academic teams.
“It is great to see our student athletes succeed both in the classroom and with their sport. I am extremely proud of them,” said head coach Jeff Beaman.
On the men’s side, Alejandro Flores, Caden Goldammer, Eita Ishikawa, Federico Iturbe, Lucas Hammond and Vilislav Bonev were recognized as ITA Scholar Athletes.
As for the women, Emiri Takanashi, Hardija Vidnere, Heden Ly, Lolita Hukasian, Valentina Mutilba and Zoe Cvitanovic were recognized individually for their prowess on and off the court.
